Sound Stewardship’s summer of new additions

Sound Stewardship’s summer of new additions

The Sound Stewardship team had a busy summer, with various adventures happening almost every week. In the midst of a strong growth year and new families to serve, we have been making a number of updates around the office, including:

  • An upgraded digital phone system.
  • An expanded parental leave policy for new family members. (See Derek’s update below!)
  • A formal bonus plan to better allow employees to share in firm growth.
  • New, comfier office chairs, coming soon!

As we turn the corner into fall, kids are back to school, and we’re gearing up for the last quarter of the year. If you know anyone who needs fee-only financial planning & wealth management help, we still have room for a couple more families yet this year! Tell them to give us a call.

Here’s what our families have been up to this summer:

MATT SYVERSON

The Syverson Family had a ton of fun this summer. Beyond their traditional week at Kanakuk Family Kamp and goin’ to Grandma’s house up in Iowa, they also enjoyed their first Jeep Jamboree with 125 other Jeep Wranglers in Southern Missouri. They spent some time out in San Diego and tried to enjoy the “June Gloom,” along with the sea lions and street tacos. Matt and Tammy’s twin daughters, Grace & Sophie, had an extra special mission trip to China to serve in various orphanages through the Show Hope Foundation.

The Syverson’s now have children in elementary, middle and high school for the first time. They look forward to their senior twins making their college choices in the near future, while Levi will have Trail Life adventures in 3rd grade, and Lily will be in Christian Youth Theater as a 6th grader.

JONATHAN HARRISON

Jonathan and his wife, Karen, enjoyed going up to Michigan for a week of family camping and reunions. Jonathan also got to experience a week onboard a tall ship in the Great Lakes this summer, “learning the ropes” on a traditionally rigged ship.

They have a busy life, with constant remodels on their 130-year-old home, an active downtown church, and four kids between 3rd and 11th grades (Jonathan and Karen’s foster son isn’t pictured above). Between sports and the Kansas City Youth Symphony, the fall is only going to get busier!

JOEL REIMER

Joel’s wife, Jenine, had back surgery earlier this year, so they were not able to travel this summer. However, they enjoyed spending time with grandkids and took them to see the dinosaur exhibit at Union Station.

Joel also wants to say how blessed he is to have parents who—though in their late 80s—are still able to travel and enjoy life. They recently attended the Dallas Theological Seminary’s 70th Annual Bible conference among the beautiful Coastal Redwoods.

DEREK HENSLEY

Derek and Tracy welcomed the newest member of the Sound Stewardship family: Dallas Lee Hensley was born on August 28th! He is a little bundle of joy who is already spoiled by family and friends.

AMBRA LEIBACH

Ambra is celebrating her eleventh year at Sound Stewardship in September and was able to enjoy a week in Colorado with family this summer. Adler, her oldest, was excited to start Kindergarten this year!

JEB FLYNN

Jeb was excited to celebrate his wife, Marcela, who graduated with her master’s degree in social work. She then passed her licensing exam, and they are thankful for the therapist role she has since started. Their next adventure will be taking the train to Chicago to enjoy the Windy City.

CINDY ST. JOHN

Cindy and her husband, Ricky, enjoyed a wonderful trip to South Dakota in June with neighbors, where they toured sites such as Saloon No. 10 in Deadwood (where Wild Bill Hickok was shot). Cindy and Ricky will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary this year!
