What is a Life Purpose Statement and Why Should You Have One?

When starting a business, one of the first things you do is draft your business plan. One of the primary components of your business plan is your mission statement. Your mission statement should give people an understanding of why your business exists. Hint: a business does notsolely exist to make a profit! A mission statement also gives you a guiding light to help with decision making as you work on and grow your business.

So, if businesses have mission statements to help the ownership/management make decisions to guide their companies to new heights, shouldn’t you have a purpose statement to help you guide your life decisions?

Your Life Purpose Statement captures, in words, an overarching theme for your life. Halftime Ministries would call it your Ephesians 2:10 Calling (“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them”).

Over the next few weeks, we’ll talk about how Your Life Purpose Statement may look, how to use it, and how it may impact the way you live and the choices you make about how you use your time, talents, and treasure.
